Weaving Notes:
In the Waldorf handwork curriculum, weaving is usually taught in third grade -- however, any Waldorf curriculum should be tailored to the needs of your specific child. Feel free to follow your instincts.

Where to Buy Yarn:
If you're like I am and trying to buy local as much as possible, skip shopping at WalMart and Michael's and do some research on farms, fiber artists, and specialty yarn shops in your area.

One place to start is to Google "buy yarn ______", putting your zip code in the blank. I found a wonderful site called the Small Farm Success Project (for the Mid-Atlantic region) and a surprising 28 alternative livestock farmers near me!

Another choice is to search for a spinners guild in your area and either join their crowd or ask them where they shop & if they know of good yarn stores nearby.

Finally, look for Fiber Festivals. Again, you can Google "fiber festival ______", with your state name or just go to Wool Festival.com.

Advertisers:
If you know of a small family-owned company which sells beautiful yarns, please email me and I'll be happy to list them here.
